Finally! Items for Sale

Hello Everyone!

I just posted my very first sale items on facebook.com/ruthiesyarnboutique !
So excited and nervous. Excited for taking the leap forward and actually putting a price to my work. Nervous about nothing selling.

It is definitely motivating having items for sale cause now I just want to finish more projects to post.

Here's a direct link to the pictures with prices For Sale on Ruthie's Yarn Boutique on facebook.com.

Dr. Who Tardis Nook/Kindle Cover

Hello Everyone!

I am a Dr Who fan! I was surfing ravelry.com and cam accross this pattern for a Tardis Kindle cover. I don't have a kindle or a nook but  I do have a friend who's daughter does and she is also a fan of Dr Who.
I don't have a sewing machine so instead I used iron on hem. The lining is made from a fabric square sample. Getting the lining to be the proper size was a challenge but I love how it came out!
Taylor (proud owner of this tardis) loves it!
I couldn't be happier!

Baby Projects

Hello Everyone!

I was asked by a friend to make two different baby knit projects. I've been waiting to post because I didn't want the expecting mothers to see the photos before receiving the gifts.

First I made the baby boy blanket inspired by a Rebecca Danger blanket pattern. Green and linen (off white) stripes with a thick orange border and thin brown border. Then 2 pockets. One pocket is orange and brown and the other looks like windows in green and linen.

Next I did the baby girl blanket.  A simple basket weave pattern in one color "off pink" called dusty rose and then added a couple of crochet flowers and grass.

After mailing those out I got started on 2 monsters also inspired by Rebecca Danger patterns from the book Knit a Monster Nursery. I doubled the yarn strands to make it a little bigger (and tougher) without having to adjust the pattern.
The boy monster was made to fit inside the blanket pockets. The girl monsters arms move back and forth.
All the yarn for these projects was from Lion Brand (mainly Vanna's Choiceand definitely all machine washable and dryable. I wanted to make sure that it was easy to clean for the moms to be.

Hello Everyone!

So I just taught myself to crochet!
So excited! Now I just have to practice, a lot.

Here's a pic of my second chain and one row. (The first one was very ... wobbly, lol)

Hello Everyone!

It has been quite a while since I last posted. My family and I moved into a new apartment, and we've been settling in.

I have still been knitting. It kept me calm and collected throughout the moving process.
Here are a few photos of some of the pieces I've completed:

One of the best parts of this new place is that I have my own little room for all my yarn and crafting stuff! Definitely need more shelving!

Hopefully I can settle into a schedule for posting soon.
